The photocopied pictures shown and distributed below of Nicolet High School basketball star Jalen Johnson have led to controversy, criticism and an apology from Port Washington High School.

The pictures above, shared on Johnson’s Twitter page, were of Johnson apparently wearing some sort of facial mask for his skin, but were interpreted by many as blackface on a young man who is African-American.
Students at Port Washington displayed those pictures to taunt Johnson during the Nicolet-Port Washington varsity basketball game Wednesday night.
“It’s disappointing,” said Port Washington Principal Eric Burke, according to the Journal Sentinel.
“We’re going to make this right. Apologies have to be made. As a principal, I apologize for our student’s actions, but our students are going to be involved in a sincere apology for what happened and the people who made this happen, there are going to be consequences.”
