MILWAUKEE- Milwaukee’s Archbishop is commending the Pope for using his annual Christmas address to call for priests who’ve committed sex crimes to come forward.
“I’m glad the Pope basically said that if there are problems, it’s better to deal with those problems directly,” Archbishop Jerome Listecki said during Friday’s Wisconsin’s Morning News.
The issue of sex abuse within the catholic church was brought to light by the Boston Globe in a series of stories published in 2002 and since then more than two-thousand stories have run in newspapers across the country dealing with the abuse scandals.
Pope Francis saying today, “hand yourself over to human justice,” during a speech in Rome.
“As a leader, I support him in his stance,” Listecki added.
