MILWAUKEE — Police continue to investigate a quintuple shooting that killed two people over the weekend in downtown Milwaukee.
52-year-old Antwan “Tweezy” Hogans died at the scene.
Hogans was a local club promoter, rapper and owned a hookah lounge. He was a pillar in the local music scene and a voice for the community.
“He was somebody that was kind of an urban legend in our community and has been around for a long time,” Tory Lowe with our sister station 101.7 The Truth told Wisconsin’s Midday News. “He has brought a lot of things out to the community and always brought people together in the community and wanted everyone to have a great time.”
“There is black on black crime, white on white crime and there is crime happening everywhere,” said Lowe. “But this is senseless violence. I was able to watch the video of what happened, and these people who were shot had nothing to do with anything. They were innocent people that lost their lives due to senseless violence and recklessness of others.”
Milwaukee police said a 39-year-old who was shot died at the hospital. Three other people, all in their 30s, were taken to the hospital for their injuries.
A 24-year-old man was taken into custody, but police are looking for more suspects.
“MPD has been proactively working with our intergovernmental partners including the Common Council and the City Attorney’s Office to address these issues,” Milwaukee police said in a statment Saturday. “MPD is dedicated to working with our elected officials, our public safety partners and the community to cultivate a safe environment for everyone to enjoy our city especially during this summer.”
