Oktoberfest. Krrampusnachht. Gemütlichkeit. (Yes, we had to spell check all that.)
You’ll find it all at a beer hall that harkens back to Germany and to the beginnings of Milwaukee.
Glendale’s Bavarian Bierhaus is the destination for John Mercure, Melissa Barclay and the Wisconsin’s Afternoon News team to broadcast live from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, December 13 as part of the All American Window & Door We Love Wisconsin Tour.
Bier (beer as they spell it in German) is just one of the trademarks of this place that reminds you of Munich’s Oktoberfest and the beer halls that dotted Milwaukee in the city’s first century. So does the cuisine, everything from the pretzels, schnitzel, bratwurst and sauerbraten. Plus, of course, a Wisconsin fish fry.
But it’s not just what you put in your stomach, but what your eyes and ears experience there that make it feel like Germany. It’s the shape and size of the place, the communal experience, the polka music, the Christmas tuba festivals and so much more.
Come for the bier. Stay for the show.
