Charities that depend upon events are having to find new ways to raise money for worthy causes in the wake of the deadly COVID-19.
Milwaukee’s Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation is doing that Wednesday night with the Stronger Together Virtual Gala.
WTMJ’s own Greg Matzek is joining Packers kicker Mason Crosby, Molly Crosby (a cancer survivor) and Cherry Starr, the wife of the late founder of the Vince Lombardi Golf Classic, Pro Football Hall of Famer Bart Starr, for the event.
“In this time period in the world, we have to adjust, find ways and continue to serve and help others. This is a great opportunity to do that,” Mason told ESPN Milwaukee’s Greg Matzek.
“The innovations people can come up with when our backs are against the wall and things are not exactly going the way we want them to – is just amazing…finding a path and doing the best we can with what we have.”

2020 is the 50th year of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation, which Bart Starr founded after legendary Packers coach Vince Lombardi died of cancer.
