UPDATE at 8:45 a.m. on 7/30/2025: Fond du Lac police confirm the suspect was taken into custody by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office following a high risk traffic stop.
FOND DU LAC, Wis. – An overnight shelter-in-place has been lifted near downtown Fond du Lac after a knife attack at an apartment complex.
A woman was attacked by a man in an apparent domestic violence incident at the Forest Apartments (92 Forest Avenue), leaving her with lacerations on both of her hands and wounds to her chest, back and upper legs.
“Domestic violence remains the leading cause of violent crime in our community,” said Police Chief Aaron Goldstein in a statement early Wednesday. “FDLPD is committed to confronting this violence head-on, holding offenders accountable while standing beside survivors. I urge anyone experiencing domestic violence to reach out to our Domestic Violence Intervention Police Specialist Officer Schulget who provides vital support and connects individuals with the resources they need.”
Goldstein indicates the suspect and victim knew each other, and that the incident was an isolated act of violence.
Despite police lifting the shelter-in-place order, the suspect has not yet been taken into custody.
The woman’s health status is unknown this morning.
