MILWAUKEE — Less than two weeks after Vice President Kamala Harris and Ohio senator JD Vance held simultaneous campaign events in Eau Claire, both will make visits to Milwaukee just days apart.
Harris and her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are planning a rally in Milwaukee on Tuesday, Aug. 20 — the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago — according to a report in the New York Times.
The Harris campaign does not have a finalized plan for a venue, but the Times report said they hope to speak at Fiserv Forum. The report credits information from four anonymous sources who were “briefed on the discussions” about the planning.
The DNC will take place Monday, Aug. 19 through Thursday, Aug. 22. It’s likely the Harris-Walz rally will take place before prime time speeches in Chicago. Former President Barack Obama is scheduled to speak at the DNC Tuesday night.
The stop would be Harris’ third visit to Wisconsin since she became the Democratic nominee for president. Before her Eau Claire rally, Harris was near Milwaukee when she spoke in West Allis on July 23.
Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance will make a campaign stop in Milwaukee on Friday, Aug. 16.
The Ohio senator will deliver remarks at the Milwaukee Police Association at 11 a.m., according to a press release.
This will be Vance’s second trip to Wisconsin this month after he campaigned in Eau Claire at the same time as Vice President Kamala Harris last week. He spoke to reporters and a small group at Wollard International, a manufacturer of ground equipment for airports.
Friday will be Vance’s third time in the state this year since he accepted the republican vice presidential nomination alongside former president Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July.
