A Watertown man is expected to face a number of charges after he spend a week inside the clubhouse of the former Windwood of Watertown golf course to avoid law enforcement.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says Watertown Police informed them of a short pursuit they had with the 41-year-old back on March 29, 2019 which they terminated without his arrest.
The next day his crashed vehicle was found just east of the city on Danbury Drive. Both police officers and sheriff’s deputies search the area for the suspect for several days without success.
It was on April 5th that a break came in their search. The suspect’s family and friends told law enforcement they had not heard from him and were concerned for his safety. The sheriff’s office expanded their search, which led them to the golf course’s clubhouse where a broken window was found. Deputies went inside and found the suspect hiding in a cooler.
It was determined the man has broken into the clubhouse since the day of the pursuit.
The suspect remains in custody on a probation hold. An investigation continues into the seven days he went missing with charges expected later this week.
