MILWAUKEE – Rookie pitching phenom Jacob Misiorowski was scheduled to make his major league debut against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night.
“(Miz) has done a great job (in Triple A)” Senior VP and GM Matt Arnold told WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News on Thursday.
Misiorowski’s fastball has been clocked at 103 mph. The velocity, coming from his tall frame (6’7″), will assist in making all of his pitches more effective, Arnold said.
“His ability to throw his cutter, his breaking ball, etc. are tremendous weapons when he can compliment it with a 103 mph fastball,” the GM explained. “Of course he’ll have inconsistencies, (but) that’s going to happen with any young pitcher.”
The decision to call-up Misiorowski and insert him into the starting rotation means veteran Aaron Civale will head to the bullpen, which he’s not happy about. The Athletic reported Civale is asking for a trade.
When asked how Civale took the bullpen news, Arnold responded “He was really good for us last year. He’s actually very well equipped to handle this job for us. He pitched in the bullpen in the playoffs last year and did a nice job for us. He has some experience doing that for us.”
