When the days began to pile up without the Bucks signing Giannis Antetokounmpo to a supermax contract, some were starting to wonder if the team would be able to get their two-time NBA MVP to sign before the regular season starts.
That thought did not cross Bucks President Peter Feigin. “Never at one time has Giannis ever, like actually wanted to leave Milwaukee,” says Feigin to Wisconsin’s Afternoon News. “So I think this was a process and a rite of passage for Giannis that was such a big deal, literally and figuratively. He wanted to spend some time. He wanted to talk about it.”
So how does an NBA team president celebrate signing one of the top stars of the sport to stay with that team for five year? “We toasted some champagne, we had some drinks. Giannis and the family went to a restaurant and got a toast. Then a group of us went out and had a room and had a really casual dinner.”
