As a kid growing up in the Los Angeles area, Milwaukee Brewers slugger Christian Yelich was one of millions who watched Kobe Bryant win championships with the L.A. Lakers.
The news of Bryant’s loss, and that of his daughter, in a helicopter crash in suburban Los Angeles Sunday has rocked the sports world, and Yelich – the 2018 National League MVP – reflected on it while on WTMJ and ESPN Wisconsin during Brewers On Deck.
“Obviously really, really sad. I feel for his family. I saw his daughter was on there, too. Really, really awful news,” said Yelich.
“I grew up watching Kobe play for the Lakers, a big part of my childhood. A lot of people in the country right now who are mourning Kobe’s loss, what he meant to the world.”
Prayers to the Bryant family. So sad, such a loss for the World ????

Yelich said he often saw Bryant play as a kid at the Staples Center.
“Just being in that area, how much he means to people out there,” Yelich reflected.
Yelich discussed many topics, from his recovery from a knee injury to his sometimes humorous presence on social media. Watch the full Christian Yelich interview from Brewers On Deck on WTMJ and ESPN Wisconsin below.
