It was a 2025 to remember for retired Packers President Mark Murphy.
Not only did he end a successful tenure with the historic franchise, but he did so by bringing the NFL Draft and its $100-million economic impact to the state of Wisconsin. Murphy was able to celebrate the achievement by announcing the team’s 1st Round Draft Pick on Day One of the draft.
“It was really a great event,” Murphy told WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News. “Convincing the league was really a challenge. It was terrific to see it all come together.”
“I was also glad we didn’t select someone who’s name I couldn’t pronounce,” he joked.
Murphy would retire as the latest inductee into the Packers Hall of Fame in 2025. He also purchased the Maxwelton Braes Golf Course in Door County and was named the UW-Green Bay Athletics Inaugural Executive in Residence.
“(Murphy) is staying here, which is impressive,” said Alex Strough, host of Green Bay Game Day on WTMJ. “He’s retired he could move south and live on a beach but he has chosen not to.”
“We can officially call Mark Murphy one of us, which is really neat.”
