The Oak Creek Sikh Temple shooting, 14 years later

Today, August 5th, 2026, marks the 14th anniversary of the Sikh Temple shooting in Oak Creek. Point Taken host Steve Scaffidi, who was serving as mayor of the city that day, tells his co-host Kristin Brey how he remembers that day. He explains what it taught him about failure, leadership, and why diversity matters. Along with teaching him these lessons, it also led him to new connections within his community, like then U.S. Attorney James Santelle and many prominent members of Milwaukee County’s Sikh community, and across the country.
