MILWAUKEE— A 56-year-old man from Milwaukee will spend 20 years in prison for stalking a woman, threatening her family and making threats against the prosecutor handling his case.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice announced Wednesday that Lonny Mayer was sentenced to 20 years of initial confinement and 10 years of extended supervision. He was convicted in May 2026 on 23 criminal counts, including stalking, threatening a prosecutor and felony intimidation of a witness.
The crimes stem for Mayer’s conduct during a previous prosecution handled by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office between 2020 and 2023.
According to the Wisconsin DOJ, Mayer sent letters and made outbursts in court threatening to hurt or kill a woman with whom he had a previous relationship, along with members of her family.
“The defendant in this case was a menace who used threats to try to avoid being held accountable,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “The lengthy sentence he received shows that those who engage in the kind of outrageous conduct that he did face substantial prison time.”
The woman was the victim in the domestic violence cases being prosecuted against Mayer. Investigators say he also tried to pressure her into stopping her cooperation with prosecutors, attempted to get others to intervene and made threats against her employer.
Mayer also made multiple threats against the prosecutor handling the cases, including threats against the prosecutors family, according to the DOJ.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul said the sentence demonstrates that people who use threats to avoid accountability can face significant prison time.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office investigated the case, while the Wisconsin Department of Justice handled the prosecution.
