Milwaukee Brewers reporter Sophia Minnaert joined Wisconsin’s Midday News to reflect on the team’s World Series championship celebration and the emotional tributes to legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker.
Minnaert rode in Uecker’s corvette during the parade, which was driven by Roger Kaplinger, the longtime medical director for the Brewers and a close friend of Uecker.
“It felt like he truly was watching,” Minnaert told Wisconsin’s Midday News, “He was present.”
Minnaert also reflected on Robin Yount riding Uecker’s motorcycle onto the stage during the championship rally and passing a flag to Christian Yelich, a moment she described as bringing the franchise’s history full circle.
After covering the Brewers for 14 seasons, Minnaert said the parade and rally will stand out as career highlights, particularly because of the overwhelming support from fans.
