MILWAUKEE — The 2026 Milwaukee Brewers season slogan changed from “Win Our Way” to “Won Our Way” after winning the World Series Championship. I suggested to one unique pair of newlyweds that they could have their own World Series-related slogan of “Wed Our Way!”
Casey Manders and Erin Harington exchanged wedding vows at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, October 30, along the Milwaukee Brewers’ World Series championship parade route. The ceremony took place at the corner of Jackson and Chicago streets, just blocks from Henry Maier Festival Park, minutes before the historic parade began. I arrived in time to witness the full ceremony and caught up with the newlyweds moments later.
What began as a joke during the Brewers’ playoff run became a wedding organized by family and friends in less than 24 hours.
“If the Brewers finally win the World Series, we’re just going to get married then,” the groom, Casey, recalled.
After the Brewers clinched their first World Series championship Wednesday night, bride Erin said their friends wasted no time turning that promise into reality.
“The group chat was blowing up, like, well, I guess Erin and Casey are getting married today,” she laughed.
The couple, who got engaged in June, had been struggling with wedding plans and narrowing their guest list. Instead, they found themselves celebrating with an entire city.
“Why not enjoy it with everybody that’s, like, a Brewers fan? The whole state of Wisconsin,” Casey said.
The spontaneous ceremony was made possible by longtime friends, including Lindsay Leinenkugel, who became ordained online the day before the wedding. Erin has been friends with Lindsay and her twin sister, Katie, since third grade and even played T-ball together. Katie Leinenkugel served as matron of honor, with her daughter Josie as flower girl.
Wearing matching bride-and-groom denim jackets, the newlyweds and their family and friends toasted with cans of Leinenkugel’s Barrelman Ale and flutes of champagne, as the championship parade approached.
And their baseball-themed love story may continue. The couple is already considering a spring training honeymoon.
