GREENFIELD, Wis. — The school day is ending early for students at Greenfield High School after a mid-morning fire in the school kitchen.
Principal Todd Willems indicated smoke was first detected around 9:00a.m. in a letter sent October 8. Willems says the fire suppression system responded immediately, and that students and staff were never in significant danger.
After fire officials conducted a building assessment, it was determined lunch could not be served from the cafeteria. Students are being dismissed at 11:30a.m., though bag lunches are being brought in for students to take home with them.
All scheduled family conferences will continue as scheduled, as will all afternoon and evening school activities.
