VILLAGE OF SALEM LAKES, Wis.– A football coach from Westosha Central High School was fired after he was investigated for “concerning communication” with a female student.
The school’s administration was notified about concerns involving an assistant football coach contacting a student through Snapchat. The Student Resource Officer was contacted by the administration around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, investigators interviewed the student and coach and found that no criminal violations occurred.
The Westosha Central High School confirmed that the assistant coach was fired from his position on Tuesday night.
District Administrator John Gendron said in a statement:
“The district holds all matters involving student safety as our highest priority. When the district was made aware of the situation, we moved quickly to look into the allegations and made a decision based on our findings.
According to Gendron, the assistant coach was fired for violating district policy. Gendron added that the man was not a teacher, substitute teacher, or support staff member at the high school.
