Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson joined Wisconsin’s Midday News to talk about what comes next for the former Northridge Mall site, now a wide open 58 acres after decades of vacancy and blight. With the mall demolished earlier this year, the city says the long troubled property is finally ready for a new chapter.
Johnson highlighted the city’s newly released vision report, which looks at what kinds of development could realistically work on the site. The report combines market research with ongoing feedback from nearby residents, aiming to find a project that could act as a catalyst for growth along the Brown Deer Road corridor and beyond.
The mayor stressed that community voices will continue to shape the process, with more public meetings planned in the coming weeks. While the city is open to a range of ideas, Johnson said the focus is on something impactful that brings real value back to the neighborhood.
