FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney is once again running for Wisconsin Attorney General.
In a campaign news release Tuesday, Toney says he’s pledging to put public safety over politics, restore accountability at the state crime labs, and confront the fentanyl crisis.
“Wisconsin needs an Attorney General who protects our people, not our politics,” said Toney. “Let’s put public safety first, restore competence to the labs, take on crime in Milwaukee, and protect all of Wisconsin.”
Toney is seeking a rematch with Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul in next year’s election. Kaul announced last month he is running for a third term.
In 2022, Kaul defeated Toney by 35,000 votes for a second term as the state’s top law enforcement official.
Toney has been the district attorney of Fond du Lac County since 2013.
The general election is November 3, 2026.
