KENOSHA, Wis. — A child is hurt after an accidental shooting in a police officer’s home in Kenosha.
On August 19, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office was requested by the Kenosha Police Department to investigate the accidental discharge of a firearm at the home of a member of the Kenosha Police Department.
The investigation revealed that a 9-year-old had accessed a locked gun safe, obtained a handgun, which accidentally discharged, causing minor injuries to the juvenile’s hand.
The involved handgun was not the Kenosha Police Department member’s duty firearm.
The victim will not be identified at this time.
This investigation remains open and active. Nothing further will be released at this time.
