DE PERE, Wis.— The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating a deadly police shooting that occurred early Saturday morning at the Perkofski Boat Launch in De Pere.
Authorities say just before 1 a.m. on July 26, officer were dispatched to the boat launch after receiving a report of a person with a rifle.
Responding officers from De Pere Police Department, Ashwaubenon Public Safety, and the Brown County Sherriff’s Office arrived on scene and attempted to negotiate with the armed individual.
According to the officials, the subject eventually displayed a rifle. Officers from both De Pere and Ashwaubenon then opened fire, striking the individual. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not yet identified the individual who was shot, and no officers were injured during the encounter.
