Testing for COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin typically is lower during the weekend compared to weekdays, but the number of tests analyzed Sunday dropped to a level not seen in two months.
The Department of Health Services reported 6,099 tests results August 16, 2020. This is the lowest number reported since June 15 when 5,804 tests were analyzed.
Of those tests, 685 came back positive.
The low number of total tests increased the percentage rate for positive tests to 11.2-percent. That also increased the seven-day rate for positive test results to 7.2-percent.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 65,741 positive cases in Wisconsin. 8,702 of them are considered active. There have also been 1,060,533 negative tests.
State health officials report one new death due to COVID-19, increasing the total number during the pandemic to 1,039.
The total number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals statewide is 337.
