A Greenfield man is arrested for a possible OWI after causing an accident in Racine County that blocked all lanes of I-94 southbound early Sunday morning.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office says they got word around 3 a.m. on August 16, 2020 of a reckless semi truck that had taken out a road sign. Responding deputies found the semi had crashed into a wall just north of County Highway KR.
The semi was carrying a load of limestone, which spilled into the nearby ditch.
Debris from the accident blocked all lanes of I-94 southbound for over three hours as emergency crews cleared it away.
The sheriff’s office says the 27-year-old semi driver was able to get himself out and was treated for injuries at the scene and a hospital.
An initial investigation by deputies found the driver was intoxicated, leading to his arrest for an OWI first offense.
The investigation continues.
