With road construction projects taking a break for the Fourth of July holiday, several new maintenance projects will get underway after the weekend.
The Marquette Interchange will see maintenance work through the summer of 2021. There will be surface replacements, placing a high-friction surface treatment on select parts, and new pavement markings and signs.
Work will be done during the overnight hours, which will lead to lane and ramp closures. The focus for the rest of 2020 will be on the east and west legs of the interchange, with the north leg taken care of next year.
The I-794 Lake Freeway will see maintenance work through the rest of summer. Minor bridge rehabilitations will take place between the Milwaukee River and Lincoln Memorial Drive.
All work will take place during the overnight hours, and will cause lane and ramp closures.
In Racine, work will begin on Highway 38 between 6th Street and Rapids Drive. The project will consist of repairing deteriorated concrete, applying a high-friction surface treatment, and upgrading sidewalks and signals.
Work will be split up into two stages, which will cause closures impacting State Street. A detour route will be used to get vehicles around road crews.
Work is scheduled to be completed by late October.
