A court hearing was set for Wednesday for Michael Mattioli, a now-suspended Milwaukee Police Officer who faces a charge of first-degree reckless homicide in the killing of Joel Acevedo in April.
The criminal complaint says that Mattioli got into a fight with Acevedo and used a choke hold on him, one day after a party which was held at Mattioli’s home. Acevedo died after the altercation.
Outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse Wednesday, protesters called for the removal of Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales and District Attorney John Chisholm in the wake of what they believe was inaction in the Acevedo case and other cases of killings by Milwaukee Police.
