Road construction projects are picking up in southeast Wisconsin.
The state Department of Transportation says work will resume this week on I-41 in Washington County, between the 41/45 split north to the Dodge County Line.
Road crews will be installing cable barriers and guardrails along the median, as well as milling and paving the road surface.
Where work it taking place, drivers can expect single-lane closures and intermittent short-term ramp closures.
This project is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2020.
In Milwaukee, the city’s Department of Public Works says a full construction project will begin Monday, March 16 on North Teutonia Avenue from West Groeling Avenue north to West Capitol Drive.
The project will be split up into two phases:
Stage 1: The southbound lane of Teutonia will be closed for construction. The majority of the side streets on the west side of the project will be closed. One lane of northbound traffic and on-street parking will be maintained on the east side of the roadway.
There will be parking restrictions during some utility and concrete pavement operations. Both West Chambers Street and Capitol will be open to east-westbound through traffic. Eastbound traffic on West Nash Street and westbound traffic on West Melvina Street will be maintained.
Stage 2: The northbound lane of Teutonia will be closed for construction. The majority of the side streets on the east side of the project will be closed. One lane of southbound traffic will be maintained on the newly completed roadway. On-street parking will be restricted.
Capitol will be open to east and westbound through traffic. Westbound traffic on Chambers and eastbound traffic on Nash will also be maintained.
MCTS bus routes that use this stretch of Teutonia will use nearby streets to get around the construction. A parking lot will be provided at the corner of Nash and Teutonia to help people park near their homes and nearby businesses.
The project is expected to be completed by early December, weather permitting.
