Those in support of extending bar and restaurant times during the Democratic National Convention are confident state lawmakers will pass the legislation this session.
“Everything is moving forward in a really positive manner right now,” said Susan Quam, Executive Vice President for the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.
Hopes are to see a bill, which would extend business hours to 4 a.m., introduced by next week, but the details are still being ironed out.
“There’s not only folks in the hospitality industry,” Quam said. “We also have the folks in law enforcement, city government and other things like that who also need to be at the table.”
The bill would only cover the nights and mornings of the convention.
It would also be limited to counties in the southeast portion of the state.
