UPDATE: 9:35 a.m.:
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says that the front left tire of the semi trailer blew out, leading the truck to hit the median wall and catch fire.
According to a Sheriff’s spokesperson, the semi went along the wall, toppling a light pole on I-43 northbound and leaving debris in both directions of I-43.
The trailer had no cargo inside it.
The driver of the semi-truck had minor injuries and was hospitalized. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was released from the scene.
Investigators continue to look into the crash.
UPDATE: 5:00 a.m.:
At 1:33 a.m., all lanes of I-43 southbound and northbound at North Avenue were opened.
Details surrounding the semi crash and fire are under investigation.
UPDATE: 11:15 P.M. :
One lane of 43 northbound has reopened to traffic around North Avenue following a semi truck fire in the southbound lanes of traffic.
Crews are continuing to clean up the scene and remove the semi, so expect lane closures to continue for the next several hours.
No word of any injuries or what caused the semi to start on fire.

A vehicle fire has shut down all lanes of I-43 around North Avenue near downtown Milwaukee.
The fire was reported just before 9 p.m. with Wisconsin DOT cameras showing a large fire taking place at the scene. There was a semi-truck involved.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office has detoured traffic off the interstate at North Avenue from the south and north, but backups are taking place beyond this.
