When it comes to what’s next for the land that hosted the Bradley Center, inspiration might be found with a Midwest neighbor.
The St. Louis Cardinals underwent a similar development that’s ongoing in Milwaukee. Old Busch Stadium was torn down for the new stadium. On those grounds came Ballpark Village, a mixed-use development that’s generated a lot of excitement.
“Right now they’re on phase two, building a hotel, apartment tower, some other retail space.” said Nathan Rubbelke, a reporter with the St. Louis Business Journal. “Phase one included one building with a restaurant and entertainment space. They’re trying to create a neighborhood feel.”
Early indications point to a desire to have something similar in Milwaukee.
“That is really the connective tissue that is going to connect the Wisconsin Center District, everything that’s going on in Wisconsin Avenue and creating this real entertainment campus west of the river,” said Bucks Senior Vice President Alex Lasry.
A decision has yet to be made, but as the Bradley Center comes down, the team remains patient.
