One of the newer traditions of summer in downtown Milwaukee is halted for this year in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The NEWaukee Night Market has been canceled for 2020, according to an announcement from the organization.
The free market with Milwaukee-area vendors, artists and musicians was scheduled for June 10, July 8, August 19 and Sept. 9 on Wisconsin Avenue between Plankinton and Vel R. Phillips Avenues.
NEWaukee also has halted its annual Urban Island Beach Party, scheduled for July 31 at Lakeshore State Park near the Summerfest Grounds.
“The health and safety of our staff, vendors, sponsors and attendees are our highest priority,” explains Angela Damiani, CEO and Co-Founder of NEWaukee, in a statement.
“We hope that the NEWaukee Night Market will be back and better than ever next summer, and we cannot wait to once again gather together with the community.”
