The Green Bay Packers chose to not immediately jump into the free agent market and let other teams dive deep into the Day 1 water, so the Packers could find out how hot the temperature is.
On Day 2, they dived in themselves.Ian Rapoport of NFL.com said the Packers are making two major free agent defensive moves, getting Ravens edge rusher Za’Darius Smith and Bears safety Adrian Amos.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports says the Smith signing will be $16 million per year. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Amos signing is $9.25 million per year.
Smith started eight of 16 games for Baltimore in his fourth season with the Ravens. He produced 8.5 sacks, 10 tackles for losses and 45 tackles along with a forced fumble as part of the No. 1 defense in the NFL when it comes to yards allowed.
