MILWAUKEE — The former owner of a prenatal care company on Milwaukee’s northwest side will spend over 9 years in prison for healthcare fraud.
32-year-old Precious Cruse owned the now-closed “Caring Through Love” near W. Fond du Lac Avenue and W. Baldwin Street in 2021.
Federal prosecutors accused Cruse of exploiting pregnant women and young mothers by “luring them into the company’s prenatal care coordination program with kickbacks in the form of free baby items such as car seats, pack ‘n plays, diapers, and baby wipes. Once enrolled, Cruse’s company used the women’s personal information to submit claims to Medicaid for services that were never provided”.
Court documents showed that she illegally claimed over $780,600 and used to the money to fund personal purchases, including “luxury travel, designer clothing, and even an $18,000 custom diamond necklace and bracelet for her toddler”.
She was convicted in September 2025 of nine counts of healthcare fraud, two counts of false statements related to healthcare matters, two counts of violating the anti-kickback statute, one count of money laundering, and two counts of aggravated identity theft.
Cruse was sentenced on January 20, 2026 to 111 months in a federal prison, and ordered to pay restitution to Medicaid of $780,600.07.
