GRAFTON, Wis. — Grafton Police are offering an alternative way to pay for winter parking tickets while benefitting those in need.
Residents who receive a $20 parking ticket for violating Grafton’s winter parking rules that went into effect on December 1 can still pay the ticket the normal way.
But police are also allowing individuals to pay the ticket off at half price by donating $10 worth of canned goods or non-perishable food items instead of a cash payment.
So that means a $20 ticket would be reduced to $10, and the remaining would be paid with $10 worth of food donations.
This would apply to any tickets issued between December 1, 2025, through January 15, 2026, and all food donations would need to be submitted by January 22.
All donated items will be given to Family Sharing of Ozaukee County, Inc. to help families struggling during the holiday season.
“Nobody enjoys issuing parking tickets—it takes our officers away from proactive community patrols,” said Chief Jeff Caponera. “This program allows us to enforce necessary winter parking rules while giving back to families who need support most. It’s truly a win-win for everyone.”
Residents would still retain the right to contest tickets through standard procedures.
