He's been on the job for less than a week, but new Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is getting right to work.
“The first thing that we’re doing right now is we’re trying to really formulate our staff and reach out to all our players,” LaFleur tells WTMJ. “Ultimately, this game is about players and I just want to endear myself to those guys.”
A lot has been made about how LaFleur will work with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“It comes down to working on developing our relationship and getting to know him. I tell you what, I am so excited to get an opportunity to work with a guy like Aaron Rodgers.”
The Packers roster as it stands now will likely be far different than when the team takes the field in September.
“We’re still in the evaluation phase,” says LaFleur. “I’m working well with [Brian Gutenkust] here. I feel very, very confident in our player personnel department. That’s something we’ll get into more as we move forward.”
LaFleur says he's ready to get to work.
“This is a big job in front of us and we're going to attack it head on.”
