Often overlooked by scouts, Packers running back Aaron Jones is having the last laugh after a breakout 2019 campaign.
It’s the talent Marcus Graham saw first-hand on the gridiron at Burges High School in Texas.
“Athletically and then mentally he had the drive to do it,” said Graham, Jones’ former varsity football coach. “A lot of scouts that came in thought he was too small at the time.”
That’s part of the motivation that fuels Jones at the NFL level.
“The biggest thing about Aaron is he’s never been the biggest or the fastest, but he is a tremendous competitor,” Graham told WTMJ.
In his third NFL season, Jones posted career highs in carries (236), yards (1,084) and touchdowns (16).
“Anytime you have a young man that you coached and was part of your program that goes on to do great things like that, not only on the field but off the field, that’s what you’re in this for as a coach,” said Graham.
