When the NCAA allowed for the possibility of student-athletes to get an additional season next year missing their 2020 spring season due to the coronavirus pandemic, it gave universities the right to decide whether to make that move or not.
A report says that University of Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez has decided not to give this year’s senior spring athletes the opportunity to compete next year.
UW has “made the decision to not pursue waivers that would extend the eligibility of our senior student-athletes,” a statement from the UW athletic department says according to Madison.com.
“Student-athletes in their fourth year of eligibility have concluded their careers with us.”
Those spring sports include golf, rowing, softball, tennis and track and field.
