NCAA spring sports were wiped away by COVID-19.
The NCAA is granting an extra year to all Division I athletes, but difficult decisions need to be made.
“At least it’s now their choice if they want to come back for that season season,” said UWM baseball coach Scott Doffek. “It’s going to probably make for some really tough conversations and tough decisions, but everyone’s having to go through it.”
Doffek says he had preliminary conversations with his players leading up to the NCAA ruling, but how it will truly impact their team remains to be seen.
Among issues are the roster size, scholarships, transfers and incoming freshman.
“You’ve got a lot of lives on hold here,” he said. “We certainly are trying to move as fast as possible.”
