We’re in for a freeze-thaw cycle in southeast Wisconsin.
That means all that snow on your home’s roof could cause some major problems.
“It’ll be Saturday that the problems occur,” Mr. Fix It Tom Feiza tells WTMJ. “It’s going to warm up into the 30s, the sun might be out, and that melts snow on the roof.”
“The snow could roll or slide to the edge of the roof as slush, refreeze as slush, and then water backs up behind that because it refreezes,” adds Feiza.
That’s called an ice dam.
“One thing to prevent that, if you know you have a home that’s prone to ice dams, is to use a roof rake.”
