MILWAUKEE — Governor-elect David Crowley, alongside Lieutenant Governor-elect Sarah Godlewski, gave their first press conference since winning the race for Wisconsin’s next governor.
In his remarks, Crowley stated his plan to establish a transition team. Once in office, Crowley told supporters his first step will be to tackle the affordability crisis.
“I’m focusing on making sure that this cabinet, this transition team and all the workers that we’re going to be employing is representative of the state of Wisconsin. I’m not looking to just bring Milwaukee and Madison to Madison. I want to make sure this is representative of the entire state of Wisconsin,” says Crowley. “It’s about how they care for these communities.”

Crowley made history last night as the first Black governor, which he stated, was not his intention.
“I didn’t run to make history. I want every young kid, no matter what zip code that they live in, or what last name they may have, I want them to dream and understand that they, too, can be able to work hard, be kind, and build relationships where you may get elected to be moving into the governor’s residence,” says Crowley.
The Governor-elect he will step down as Milwaukee County’s Executive before the end of the year, and there will be a special election held in spring to appoint a new one.
Crowley’s inauguration will be December 3.
