MILWAUKEE — Felony charges have been filed against three people after one of them allegedly bit and beat a Milwaukee police officer following a chase on the city’s northwest side.
Sincere Scott, 22, was charged with 11 battery and drug-related felonies in connection with the Oct. 14 attack. Police say he was the driver of the car that fled a traffic stop near Appleton Avenue and Hadley Street, speeding through six stops signs before crashing into a light pole and a tree, then fleeing on foot.
A criminal complaint says an officer then chased Scott and attempted to arrest him. Scott allegedly tried to grab the officer’s gun, bit the officer on his arm, then took a firearm magazine from the officer’s vest and hit him in the head. The officer was then able to hold Scott to the ground until another officer arrived to arrest him.

Another officer chased Scott’s passenger, 19-year-old Jerrell Shead, and arrested him shortly after. A second passenger, 17-year-old Javeonte Thomas, was arrested several hours later after another foot chase in a separate drug bust.
Police found multiple bags of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine on the suspects and inside the car, as well as two guns inside the car.
The injured officer needed stiches for a significant laceration on his head.
Court records show Scott has a history of drug charges. At the time of his recent arrest, he was on probation from a 2024 case in which a judge stayed a 5-year prison sentence.
“Our officers accept the risks of this profession. That does not mean this community should accept violence against them as simply part of the job,” the Milwaukee Police Association said in a statement that scrutinized the stayed sentence. “No officer should have to be beaten while trying to protect the public from dangerous behavior.”
Scott appeared in court for the first time on Monday and pled not guilty to one misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer. He did not enter a plea for the 11 felony charges. A judge set his cash bond at $75,000.
Shed and Thomas also entered not guilty pleas to misdemeanor charges of resisting an officer, and they both face multiple drug-related felonies. A judge set Shead’s bond at $2,500 and Thomas’s at $30,000.
All three have a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 27.
