WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. — A suspect remains on the run after a stolen car chase through multiple communities in Washington County.
A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a car speeding over 100 mph on I-41 near near Freistadt Road in the Village of Germantown on October 8 around 12:28 a.m.
The driver fled, and deputies chased the car for approximately 14.3 miles through portions of the villages of Germantown, Richfield, Jackson, and Slinger, and the Town of Polk. This included the car driving through some residential yards in the Village of Jackson.
Deputies ended the chase near the Interstate 41 and State Highway 60 interchange because of safety concerns for nearby road construction workers.
The vehicle was later located in the Slinger area, after law enforcement used tire-deflation devices on American Eagle Drive, causing the car to stop near Cedar Bluffs Drive. The driver then fled on foot and remains on the run.
During a search of the abandoned vehicle, deputies found a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Investigators also learned the car involved may have been reported stolen from Langlade County, and may belong to a construction worker was reported it missing from the Interstate 41 and State Highway 60 construction area.
The Sheriff’s Office has identified a person of interest.
