MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports 17 people have gotten sick due to alfalfa sprout related E.coli and Salmonella.
Officials say the illness is allegedly related to eating from brands “Everything Sprouts” and “Calco.”
One person has been hospitalized.
DHS warns anyone with these sprouts in their home should throw them away immediately. Do not eat them.
Additionally, if already consumed, health experts advise monitoring for signs of either illness, which usually set in 6 hours to 6 days after consumption.
Symptoms usually go away on their own, but contact a health provider if they become severe.
Wisconsin sees around 1,000 cases of Salmonella every year.
