Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE — The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) has announced another newcomer to its leadership team and is asking waiting list applicants to update their information.

New Chief Operations Officer

HACM has named Zena Farah as Chief Operations Officer. She will lead public housing, affordable housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs, including overseeing regulatory compliance and and resident services.

Farah most recently worked as a residential property manager and previously spent over 16 years in housing leadership at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio University and is a graduate of HUD’s Management Development Program.

“I am honored to join HACM and look forward to working alongside our staff, residents, and community partners,” Farah said in a statement. “Together, we will build on the vital work already underway, strengthen housing programs, and enhance services for Milwaukee families.

The announcement comes after the city’s historically troubled housing agency named a new Chief Financial Officer and a new Secretary-Executive Director earlier this year.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Farah to HACM’s executive leadership team,” said Secretary-Executive Director Harold S. Ince, Jr. “Her deep expertise in property management and federal housing administration will be instrumental as we continue strengthening operations and expanding opportunities for the residents we serve.”

“Save Your Spot” campaign for waiting lists

In an effort to keep waiting lists up to date, HACM is requiring applicants for Public Housing and Project-Based Vouchers to update their information. Those who wish to stay on waiting lists must confirm their contact information and interest via the Rent Café applicant portal by 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.

The “Save your Spot” campaign only applies to applicants on the Public Housing and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists. HACM says the confirmation process is not a new application and will not affect applicants’ current positions on the lists.

Applicants who do not respond by the deadline will be removed from waiting lists.
