MADISON, Wis.– Law enforcement officials made 25 arrests on Wisconsin’s waterways during “Operation Dry Water,” an initiative to stop intoxicated boating, over the July 4th holiday weekend.

Wardens also issue nearly 900 warnings and over 200 citations for boating safety violations.

Additionally, Warden Tim Price saved a woman’s life on the Eagle River Chain after she drunkenly fell off a boat without a life jacket.

Another Warden, Nick Engelhardt, and Captain Tyler Strelow were on boat patrol on Lake Wisconsin when a man on a sandbar began chasing them on a watercraft. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Wardens also assisted Sheriff’s deputies in Racine county after severe storms caused damage on July 3rd.
