PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. — Two people are temporarily displaced from their home after a fire destroyed a garage in Port Washington on Sunday.
Fire crews responded around 1:05 a.m. on July 12 to a single-story home on Terrace Drive just southeast of I-43, where heavy fire was coming from an attached garage and extending through the roof.
The home’s occupants had safely evacuated, and the Port Washington Fire Department asked neighboring homes to evacuate as a precaution.
The fire was mostly contained to the garage with limited extension into the rest of the home. It took crews about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Two people were evaluated by EMS on scene and no firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
