MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County District Attorney files charges against a former Milwaukee County bus driver in the death of a pedestrian in Greenfield.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 55-year-old Dameon Peters of Milwaukee. He faces one felony charge of homicide by use of a vehicle with prohibited alcohol concentration (PAC) in the death of 61-year-old George Kayser.

The criminal complaint details that Peters was driving an MCTS bus near W. Forest Home Avenue and W. Coldspring Road. in Greenfield around 6:45 p.m. on November 22, 2025. He told officers that he was driving near the intersection of 56th and W. Forest Home Avenue, saw a person walk into the intersection, and attempted to steer the bus to avoid the person when he heard a thud.
Peters told officers “he didn’t believe he struck anyone until he saw a person laying down in his rearview mirror, at which point he stopped the bus and called MCTS for help”.
Officers found Kayser lying in the middle of the roadway and not breathing. Despite life-saving measures, he died of his injuries.
An investigation into the video from the bus driven by Peters showed that while driving “[he] appears ton be squinting, driving with one eye closed, or attempting to focus on driving. At on point, at 5:00 p.m., the bus appears to strike the curb while driving, while on other times [Peters] appears to be driving over the white line that separates the bike lane from the traffic lane”.
Peters’ blood alcohol level was found to be at 0.236 g/100ml, nearly three times the legal limit.
In a statement from MCTS:
