MILWAUKEE — According to a court filing Tuesday, Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan is requesting a new trial.
A jury handed down a split verdict in the case last week, finding her guilty of federal felony obstruction, and acquitting her of misdemeanor concealment.
The trial lasted for a week, with jurors viewing evidence and ultimately convicting Dugan of attempting to conceal illegal immigrant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz by directing out of a restricted staircase in the Milwaukee County Courthouse, then impeding the arrest with federal ICE agents.
Dugan’s team is also expected to ask Judge Lynn Adelman to revoke the jury’s guilty verdict.
“I would just say the case is a long way from over,” says Steve Biskupic, Dugan’s defense attorney.
A sentencing hearing has not been set, instead, Judge Adelman has outlined a briefing schedule based on the defense’s request.
