SULLIVAN, Wis. – Air quality levels are once again expected to dip to unhealthy levels in lakeshore counties across Southeast Wisconsin Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says an Air Quality Alert will take effect at noon for Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties, and will run until 7:00pm.
Pollution levels Wednesday afternoon are is expected to range between the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” and “Unhealthy” level.
In addition to air quality concerns, forecasters are tracking the potential for severe weather Wednesday afternoon and evening. Those concerns led to the cancellation of the July 16th Milwaukee Night Market.
Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Tyler Moore says very warm and muggy air will add the energy needed for some severe storms between 3pm and 8pm.
“We do have a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather with gusty winds as the main threat but also a low tornado potential.” says Moore.
WTMJ Meteorologist Craig Koplein added that some storms could flare up earlier in the day ahead of the stronger line Wednesday afternoon and evening.
