FRANKLIN, Wis. — The Franklin Police Department warns of a new scam threatening residents.
A letter is sent to Franklin residents that threatens to post incriminating information about their Internet and home habits on the Internet. The scammer even uses the resident’s real identifying information including their name, address, and even Google Street views of their home. The scammer then demands payment using Bitcoin.
Franklin Police remind the public to not send money to anyone they don’t know.
